#Art transcends logic and speaks directly to our heart, making the abstract horror of #nuclearweapons real, awakening desire for #nucleardisarmament

With coaching from the United Nations Office for D With coaching from the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), Atomic Reporters and the UN System Staff College (UNSSC), participants explored different journalism and storytelling techniques to create compelling, human-centered stories.
The outcome: six creative endeavours, including a comic book, an interactive film, a ‚choose your own experience‘ website, a newspaper article set in 2075, an audiovisual story, and an animated video. These projects explore the human, social and environmental dimensions of nuclear weapons, through various narrative approaches and use of innovative digital tools.

Nuclear war risks are increasing and remind us of Nuclear war risks are increasing and remind us of the Cold War. The Civil Defence concepts of that time appear ridiculous from today’s perspective because they would be totally inadequate. Nothing could protect us against a humanitarian catastrophe. The German TV station NDR released original material documenting civil defence endeavours of the 1960s. https://www.ndr.de/geschichte/waswardalos/selbstschutz-bei-atomangriff-wie-ausserirdische-beim-kaffeeklatsch,zivilschutz126.html
